Video – Why I Support the Orange County Tax Abatement Referendum

I've created a short video explaining why I support the Orange County Tax Abatement Referendum that will be featured on the upcoming January 31, 2012 Presidential Primary Election Ballot.

If approved, the referendum would authorize the BCC to grant property tax exemptions for new or expanding businesses that are creating new jobs. The idea is to encourage job growth and help spur new investment in Orange County.

To learn more about the referendum, visit the county site by clicking here.

All registered voters in Orange County are eligible to vote on this nonpartisan issue. If approved, the program will authorize the County to grant qualifying businesses a temporary County property tax exemption of up to 100% on new capital improvement and/or equipment purchases for up to 10 years. This incentive will have no impact on what the company is currently paying in County taxes on existing land, buildings, infrastructure and equipment.

East Orlando Relay For Life Video

Check out a video of me along with my colleague and good friend Darryl Flynn, our Orange County School Board Representative for the area, during the East Orlando Relay For Life. I’ll be at the Lake Nona Relay For Life this Friday (May 20) at Lake Nona High School – please consider stopping by, saying hi and supporting the fight to find a cure for cancer!
